This is a finished version of an early attempt made by the artist to both come to terms with and draw attention to the failings of Gladys Edgertons 1920 translation of Le Roman du Lievre, Romance of the Rabbit, in which the protagonist of the story was mistranslated as a rabbit. Romance of the Rabbit is reproduced here with the word hare replacing every occurrence of rabbit, all other words absent. The Word hare has been burned through the pages, resulting in a series of 32 simple constellations.
